Karen L. Pellegrin's digital design studio, Kelpworks Creative, is the culmination
of over 10 years of design experience, education, and a lifetime of artistic passion
and family influence.
Born in Australia and journeying into the mountains from Cajun country, she is inspired
by her life around a variety of vibrant & rich natural environments, a diversity
of people & unique cultures and travels across the globe. Like nature, many of her
designs start as the tiniest seed of an idea and blossom into something simply amazing.
Karen utilizes her vast design knowledge & worldly experiences to nurture every
project to perfection.
When she isn't just designing everything she can get her hands on, as well as the
stuff that’s just floating around in her head, Karen is riding the fabulous South
Suburban trails, doing yoga on her Wii or geeking out on PC games.
On the side, Karen also designs custom stationary, children's book illustrations,
vintage inspired graphics, dabbles in wood sculpture, furniture making & fabric
art.
If Karen is the design master, then Michael Pellegrin is the code keeper. He is
our project manager, makes sure the best code is written and the "really smart math
stuff" is done right. As the studio's right brain, he's our resident genius with
web, game and user interface design.
Michael's excellence comes from his bachelor of fine arts in computer animation,
a master of science in telecommunications management and a lifetime of digital immersion.
When he isn't coming up with new games, new software or new methods of code & development,
Michael is rolling around the trails with Karen or brainstorming with his fellow
brainiacs.
... and we can't forget the endless attention that Newton gets from him in the studio.
Newton is our crazy half Jack Russell and half Cocker Spaniel studio mascot. When
he isn't bouncing off of the walls (we'd swear he is made of rubber), tearing the
stuffing out of another toy or he's being lazy on our studio futon. He's also a
big kisser with lots of love to give.
He's got a great job, too. Policeing the cat from trying to add unrequested changes
to our work. We love him to pieces and he gives an excuse to "step away from the
computer" when our eyes start getting blurry, or we're ready to *zing* the wireless
mouse across the room.
